Spine

The spine, which forms the base for the rest of our skeletal system, is a semi-rigid structure consisting of 33 vertebrae (block-like series of bones) that are connected together by spinal discs, ligaments, joints and muscles.

The structure is broken down into five sections:

  • Cervical (neck)
  • Thoracic (chest)
  • Lumbar (low back)
  • Sacrum
  • Coccyx (tailbone)
